Outstanding Technical Team Studio

We are so proud to announce our crew at Illumination Dynamics along with the entire crew working on ESPN’s College Football Game Day, have been awarded with the 2020-21 Emmy for Outstanding Technical Team Studio. We feel very fortunate to have a spectacular Broadcast Services team at ID, who are responsible for lighting design, equipment and technical services, led by VP and Lighting Director Rich Williams. We applaud their commitment and expertise which has given us the opportunity to work on this fantastic project with such an outstanding Technical Team.

The Process

For the last four years we have been chosen to provide lighting services to ESPN for Game Day. Each year ID’s support has involved an intensive and focused workflow. The process lasts 18 back to back weeks for the regular season, playoff Bowl games, and then into the National Championship. Within that period every member of our team dedicates their time and hard work to ensuring the highest quality lighting and service possible.

Our Setup

The show has previously received multiple Emmy awards for its high quality. In 2018, the team took an approach to further elevate the standard of the show including the lighting which now utilizes roughly 90% ARRI lighting fixtures in the new set up, including M18’s, M8’s, L7’s and Sky Panels.

Special acknowledgement to our participating 2018 team members and those who have worked on College Gameday over the years to make it a fantastic experience. Big thanks to all of our team members and to Dave McDonald and Josh Bero for the dedication and over the top hard work over the years.
